Oh, hai! I read books, then I write down what I think of them.
To begin with, I really liked it, but by about half-way through it began to feel as though there wasn't enough story to go with the concept. By 70% there was a story but it was told so lightly it felt rushed. By 85% I was pushing through just to get the thing finished. I'd consider it 4 stars for the first half, 1 star for the last 30%. I felt the question of Faina's existence was clumsily done. It didn't commit enough to either direction or have enough ambiguity to make the question compelling. Compared to something like Ali Shaw's The Girl With Glass Feet, or Monique Roffey's Sun Dog (two other books which have a fairy tale-like concept), this doesn't compete. Really disappointing.
